You have several options when it comes to getting full, beautifully shaped lips with fillers. The best lip filler for you, of course, is the one that will achieve all your aesthetic goals, whether you want to reshape your lips, smooth out vertical lip lines, or restore plump volume to your lips.

How do you know which of the many lip fillers available will accomplish your goals? In this post, we discuss some of our favorite options and answer common questions, from whether they hurt to how long lip fillers last.

Restylane® Kysse™

In just a few short years since the FDA approved this filler in 2020, Restylane Kysse has become a preferred option for many people. This filler is specifically formulated for lips using Restylane’s XpresHAn Technology™, which gives lips flexible, responsive movement that looks engagingly natural. With a smooth, soft consistency, the filler can improve lip volume, address asymmetry, and smooth upper lip lines. You can expect your results to last up to 1 year, at which point you can seek a touch-up treatment.

Why Should I Choose Restylane Kysse?

Restylane Kysse’s XpresHan Technology™ is based on a unique cross-linking process that creates supple and natural-looking volume. Your lips will feel soft and flexible after your filler treatment rather than over-filled, lumpy, or stiff. Unlike other fillers, Restylane Kysse also improves your lips’ colour and texture, helping them look more vibrant and silky.

You will also likely need less Restylane Kysse to plump up your lips’ volume than you would need with other fillers. In a clinical study, patients required 1.84 mL of Restylane Kysse compared to 2.24 mL of competitor lip fillers.

If your goal is to make attractive improvements to your lips, Restylane Kysse might be the best filler for you.

Restylane® Silk

Also from the Restylane family of fillers, this filler enhances the lips and fills in lines around the lips and mouth. Restylane Silk contains smaller, softer hyaluronic acid particles than other Restylane fillers, so your lip results will look more natural. You can enjoy your Restylane Silk results for up to 6 months.

Do Lip Fillers Hurt?

A topical numbing cream is typically applied before a filler treatment and given time to numb your lips. Most lip fillers, including Restylane Kysse and Silk, also contain lidocaine to keep you comfortable during the injections, so you should only experience mild discomfort with your treatment. You may feel a light pinch when the filler is administered, but the discomfort will be brief. If you’re concerned about pain during your injections, talk with your provider.

How Long Does Lip Filler Swelling Last?

You may experience swelling after your filler treatment for about 2 to 3 days. Apply an ice pack to the area and sleep with your head propped up for the first few days if possible. Typically, your swelling should subside completely within 2 weeks.

Can I Combine Lip Filler With Other Treatments?

You can combine fillers with cosmetic injectables such as BOTOX® or Dysport® to improve fine lines and wrinkles on your face. This combination is often called a liquid facelift because it addresses many signs of aging. Your provider can help you choose the best treatments based on your facial rejuvenation goals.
